About Us

Since its establishment in March 1997, the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation has contributed more than $27 million to improving health care in the Far North region. Our focus extends across various health care domains as well as health education encompassing preventative lifestyle strategies and remains dedicated to advancing health care in the Far North region. 

Operating as a non-profit charitable organisation, the Foundation supports a vast geographical area, supporting nine hospitals, 53 primary health centres and two multi-purpose health services from Tully to the Torres Strait. 

Remarkably, the Foundation's social enterprises fully cover its administrative costs, ensuring every cent donated directly benefits its intended purpose.

In addition to dining and grab-and-go options, our social enterprise cafes also provide specialised catering boxes within the Cairns area. The catering boxes are ideal for a picnic in the park, office catering, meetings, training, functions, birthday celebrations or a simple morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea treat.

Please note that 10 hours’ notice is required so the team can cater your requests. Catering boxes are available six days a week, with all orders available for collection and delivery from Monday to Saturday for your convenience.

All our administrative costs are paid through social enterprises, meaning every dollar donated or contributed through fundraising and profits from your catering order, goes towards help provide better health service in FNQ

Chef Talk

Chef Michael:

Embarking on a culinary journey that spans continents and cultures, our Executive Chef Michael who overseas Sea Breeze Café, dCafe, and FNQ Foundation Feast is proud to bring more than 15 years of experience to FNQ Foundation Feast. 

Michael hails from Brisbane and made the decision early in his culinary career to move to London to broaden his horizons and deepen his understanding of the culinary arts.

Over the course of two enriching years in London, Michael honed his culinary techniques and delved into the diverse world of global cuisines. Fuelled by a desire for new adventures and flavours, he then set off for Italy where he spent a year learning about Italian culinary traditions.

Michael then chose to return to Australia, settling in Cairns where he has had the privilege of serving as Head Chef in some of Cairns' most loved restaurants. Our tropical paradise has not only provided a stunning backdrop for expanding Michael’s culinary creativity, but also has allowed him to collaborate with local suppliers, ensuring each dish reflects the richness of the region's produce.

Chef Stuart:

Stuart, a seasoned culinary professional with more than 20 years of experience, is our Catering Chef at dCafe and FNQ Foundation Feast. After spending the past year exploring Australia, Stuart has now chosen Cairns as his home, bringing with him a wealth of expertise and a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences.

Before embarking on his journey around Australia, Stuart was Head Chef at an exclusive 4-star Retreat on the Central Coast of NSW.

One of Stuart's defining characteristics is his unwavering commitment to sourcing the finest local produce. His dedication to quality ingredients reflects not only his respect for the culinary craft but also his desire to showcase the rich flavours of our region. With a foundation in French training, Stuart blends tradition with innovation, resulting in dishes that captivate the palate and leave a lasting impression, seamlessly aligning with the vision of FNQ Foundation Feast.
